We are excited to present the first face-to-face national Parkinson’s Conference in Australia in 10 years!

As an organisation dedicated to improving the lives of individuals living with Parkinson’s disease, we are excited to invite you to the Parkinson’s Australia National Conference 2025, which will be held in Canberra from April 6th to 8th.

Our theme is Connection

This conference offers a unique opportunity to connect with experts in the field, exchange knowledge, and explore the latest advancements in Parkinson’s care. With a focus on multidisciplinary collaboration, it’s an event tailored to allied health professionals like yourself, who play such a vital role in supporting people living with Parkinson’s.

The program will feature three international keynote speakers:

Professor Roger Barker, UK

Roger Barker is a Professor of Clinical Neuroscience at the University of Cambridge and Consultant Neurologist at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. He is also the President of the World Parkinson’s Congress and a leading expert in Cell and Gene Therapy.

Dr Laurie Mischley, USA

Dr Mischley is Senior Clinical Investigator, Naturopathic Physician at Seattle Integrative Medicine, with appointments at the University of Washington & Bastyr University. Creator of PRO-PD app and her research is based on data-driven interventions and practical ways to live well with Parkinson’s.

Richelle Flanagan, Ireland

Richelle is a dietitian and co-founder of The Women’s Parkinson’s Project and the My Moves Matter app that deep dives into gender and Parkinson’s including pregnancy, menstruation and menopause.

Conference Social Program

This conference offers a 2-hour welcome reception to all conference attendees & an optional dinner (you can also book a guest dinner pass for anyone not attending conference but wanting to join us).

DON’T FORGET – THE WELCOME RECEPTION IS BEING HELD SUNDAY APRIL 6th.

You don’t have to worry about dinner on Sunday because the welcome reception will include 2-hours of drinks and substantial canapés for EVERYONE attending conference. Don’t miss the ability to meet and socialise with researchers, allied health professionals, nurses, Parkinson’s Australia CEO and staff, people living with Parkinson’s and their carers before conference sessions start on Monday. n.b. The Conference Registration Desk will be open all day Sunday to pick up your lanyards and dinner tickets (if purchased separately).

CONFERENCE DINNER IS BEING HELD MONDAY APRIL 7th.

Conference Dinner Tickets are separate to the conference registration. It includes a 2-course dinner (mains and dessert) with drinks. If you have already registered and would like to add the dinner to your registration, please contact the Conference Secretariat at or 08 7071 1010. Dinner passes are $150 per ticket. A Guest Dinner Pass can also be purchased for those partners that might not be attending but want to join us for dinner and drinks.

Why attend? We have sessions for carers, a carers’ break out room for you to take a break and speak with other carers anytime throughout the conference and exhibitors with assistive technologies that can help at home.

Do you want to attend conference, but are worried about your person with Parkinson’s? Here are some tips on travelling to conference with or without them:
WITH:
  • Contact the airline to ensure you have disability and companion rates and support as you travel through the airport. More travel tips here.
  • Information on using your companion card in the ACT can be found here.
WITHOUT: Use planned respite (where a service provider cares for your family member or friend while you take a break).
  1. Check with your NDIS plan or My Aged Care package first to see what support you can access.

  3. Check with private providers in your local area to see what is available.
