We are thrilled to announce that Professor Dinesh Kant Kumar, a pioneering researcher in the field of biosignals and digital health, will be delivering a talk and having a display at next year’s Parkinson’s Australia National Conference!
Professor Kumar is a Professor at RMIT University, Melbourne, and a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Digital Health. He leads groundbreaking biosignals and digital health research and serves on the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA – Australia) advisory panel for medical devices. His passion for developing affordable diagnostic devices has driven his illustrious career.
With over 8900 citations to his name, Professor Kumar’s contributions to the field are widely recognised. He has held prestigious positions such as Chair of the Society of Medical Engineers Australia, Senior Professorial Fellow in Brazil, and Vajra Fellow in India. Additionally, he has initiated two successful startup companies and serves as an editor for two prominent journals.
Professor Kumar has developed multiple innovative technologies to detect and monitor Parkinson’s. His software-based devices assess Parkinson’s through the analysis of:
- Handwriting dynamics
- Voice patterns
- Pupillary reflex
- IMU for gait analysis
These advancements facilitate fast and accurate assessments for clinicians and enable regular monitoring of disease symptoms, significantly improving patient care.
