Exciting Keynote Speaker Announcement: Dr. Ashani Couchman

We are delighted to announce that Dr. Ashani Couchman, a distinguished urological surgeon, will be delivering a talk on Continence, a very common symptom of Parkinson’s, at the 2025 Parkinson’s Australia National Conference!

Dr. Couchman is a sub-specialist in Transitional (adolescent) urology and Neuro-urology at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. A graduate of Auckland Medical School, she completed her surgical training in New Zealand, followed by prestigious fellowships at the Institute of Urology, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London, and Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. Her extensive experience culminated in a consultant position at Kingston Hospital, Kingston-upon-Thames.

Dr. Couchman is the Deputy Head of Unit – Department of Urology at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and is the Neuro-urologist at the Repatriation Precinct. She is also a visiting specialist at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide.

Dr. Couchman holds several prominent positions, including:

  • Chair of the Children and Young Persons Committee of the International Continence Society
  • Board Member of the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand
  • Member of the Adolescent Transition Care Clinical Network Steering Committee in South Australia
  • Co-Chair of the Report on Terminology of Transitional Care for the International Continence Society
  • Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee at Calvary North Adelaide Hospital
  • Member of the Executive Committee for the RACS Annual Meeting 2023
  • Advisory Board Member for Urology (Botox) at Allergan/Abbvie

Her memberships include:

  • The International Neuro-Urology Society
  • The European Association of Urology
  • The American Urological Association
  • The International Continence Society
  • The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons

Dr. Couchman has published extensively in her sub-specialty fields and is a member of the editorial panel for Continence, the journal of the International Continence Society.
